Allen police ID elderly man accused of shooting at noisy construction site

A 75-year-old Allen man was arrested after he shot at a construction site and barricaded himself in his apartment early Wednesday, police said.

He's been identified as Roy Dale Rogers.

Rogers was booked into Collin County jail on a charge of deadly conduct by discharging a firearm. He could face additional charges, Allen police spokesman Jon Felty said.

Construction workers reported hearing someone shooting a rifle in their direction from apartments across the street in the 300 block of Greenville Avenue, near East Main Street, just before 2 a.m., Felty said.

Patrol officers formed a perimeter around the apartment and made numerous attempts to contact Rogers, Felty said.

SWAT officers responded to the scene about 5 a.m. and Rogers eventually surrendered. He was taken into custody without incident.

He allegedly told police he was annoyed at the noise coming from the site.

No injuries were reported.
